The metabolic pak is the single most important decision

Of everything in a nutritional balancing programme, the metabolic pak carries the most weight. It is chosen by oxidation rate, and where the oxidation rate is fast, by whether the sodium-to-potassium ratio is inverted.

The nutrient strengths in these three are set deliberately so that a tablet can be added for a more extreme oxidation rate, or taken away for a milder one, without changing products. That is design, not coincidence — it is what lets one formula serve a range of severity.

What makes Endo-Met different?

Endo-Met Laboratories was founded in 1975 by Dr. Paul C. Eck, the researcher who turned hair tissue mineral analysis into a working system of nutritional science. His premise — biochemical individuality — is that the same nutrient can help one person and work against another, depending on their mineral pattern. So instead of one-size-fits-all vitamins, Endo-Met formulas are designed around mineral relationships: how zinc moves sodium and potassium, how calcium antagonises magnesium, how vitamin C behaves differently in a fast oxidizer.

The intellectual lineage runs from Hans Selye’s stress research through Dr. George Watson’s oxidation types, Dr. Melvin Page’s dental-metabolic work and Dr. William Albrecht’s soil science to Dr. Eck’s synthesis — and the formulation research has continued in the decades since. That is why the line is organized by oxidation rate and ratio patterns rather than by symptom, and why each formula’s nutrient strengths are calibrated to scale with tablet count rather than requiring product switches. Formulas are updated as the research develops — six moved from tablets to capsules in their current versions, each with a current Supplement Facts panel on its product page.

How Endo-Met supplements are used with hair analysis

Endo-Met formulas were never meant to be bought because a nutrient “sounds beneficial.” The line was designed as the supplement arm of a testing system: a hair tissue mineral analysis measures your tissue minerals and their ratios, the pattern identifies your oxidation type, and the oxidation type and ratios select the formulas — starting with the metabolic pak, then the targeted minerals and glandulars your chart actually calls for.

That order of operations is the whole difference. Supplementing a “low” mineral in isolation routinely backfires because every mineral moves others; the ratios outrank the individual readings. Test, then supplement, then retest — mineral patterns genuinely shift on retest, which is how you know the programme is working rather than guessing.

Retracing: why a good programme can feel worse before it feels better

This is the part most people are never told, and it is the most common reason someone abandons a programme that was working.

As the body regains enough energy to eliminate what it has been storing, symptoms can surface. Dr. Eck and Dr. Wilson described three forms: an old symptom returns, a current one temporarily intensifies, or something new appears. Three questions usually separate a healing reaction from a genuine problem — are you on the correct programme, is your lifestyle sound, and were you feeling better just before it hit?

Different formulas support different routes for eliminating stored metals: GB-3 through the liver, Renamide through the kidneys and named specifically in relation to cadmium and mercury, Selenium also in relation to cadmium and mercury, and Limcomin where chronic infections turn acute. Moly-Cu makes copper elimination less unpleasant. Where a reaction needs easing rather than encouraging, lecithin slows elimination down.

Endo A-C

Vitamin A, vitamin C and bioflavonoids. The reason this exists rather than plain ascorbic acid is specific: fast oxidizers need the cofactors in this formula in order to use the vitamin C at all. The citrus bioflavonoids, rutin and rosehip are the cofactors in question. High-dose plain vitamin C can also drive copper down in a fast oxidizer, which is the opposite of helpful.

I came to hair analysis in 2010, under ARNP Julie Walker in Kennewick, Washington, and worked directly with Analytical Research Labs — testing family and friends until I could read a chart properly. I listened to every cassette tape Dr. Paul Eck recorded and read every newsletter that laboratory published. When I found out a degree in Nutritional Balancing existed, I signed up with Dr. Larry Wilson in August 2011, and I have practised independently since autumn 2017.

The mistake I correct most often on this line is someone reading their own chart, spotting three low minerals and buying three bottles. It does not work that way. Every mineral moves others — zinc lowers sodium and raises potassium, calcium antagonises magnesium, potassium, iron, selenium, zinc, chromium and phosphorus. So we generally do not supplement to a low level. There is an order of priority, the ratios outrank the individual readings, and the metabolic pak comes first. If you only ever take the pak, you are still doing the most important thing on the list.

How I am available. Hair analysis clients get text support from me while they are on the programme — retracing questions are far easier answered as they happen than weeks later. It takes about three months of working together before someone can read their own chart and adjust between tests, and that is the goal.
