The bottle says take one capsule a day. That is the generic label default, and it is almost never what a hair tissue mineral analysis actually calls for.
A lab report prescribes a schedule written as three numbers — morning, noon and evening:
| On your report | What it means |
|---|---|
| 1 | One capsule, once a day |
| 1-1-0 | One in the morning, one at noon, none in the evening |
| 1-1-1 | One with each of the three meals |
| 2-1-1 | Two in the morning, one at noon, one in the evening |
| 2-2-1 | Two, two, then one |
| 1-1-2 | One, one, then two — weighted to the evening |
| 3-3-3 | Three with each meal, nine a day in total |
Those are examples rather than a complete list — reports use many combinations, and the amounts are set from your own oxidation rate and mineral ratios. A formula the label treats as a once-a-day supplement may well be prescribed several times a day on a chart, or only in the morning, or not at all.
So do not work out how long a bottle will last from the label. Work it out from your schedule. If you are on 3-3-3, a 180-count bottle is twenty days, not six months.
If you have a report and are not certain how to read it, send it over — walking people through their own numbers is exactly what the text support is for.
GB-3 is the formula associated with elimination through the liver and bile, which is one of the main routes anything mobilised during a program has to leave by.
It is most often reached for in slow oxidation, and it has a mild laxative effect — which is why it suits people whose bowels tend toward infrequent rather than loose. Gas or bloating after meals points the same way, as does having had the gall bladder removed.
That is also the cleanest way to tell it apart from Enzaid. GB-3 for the sluggish end, Enzaid for the loose end. Same category, opposite tendencies.
One practical note: GB-3 is introduced gradually rather than at full strength, because tolerance builds over the first few weeks. Your practitioner can advise where to begin.
Whether it applies to you is read from your own chart rather than from how you feel in a given week. If you have not been tested, that is where the decision starts rather than with a bottle.
GB-3 stands for gall bladder – hepatic. The formula is more than sixty-five years old and was designed by Dr. Henry Harrower, often described as the father of American endocrinology and the first American physician to use glandular extracts in practice.
There are three ingredients: ox bile extract, black radish, and pancreatin.
Most manufacturers use ox bile salts. Endo-met’s position is that the bile acids are the fraction that does the work — chiefly dehydrocholic acid — and GB-3 is formulated on that basis. It is a small distinction on a label and a large one in practice.
Dr. Lawrence Wilson’s guidance is to begin with one capsule daily. Taking too much too soon commonly causes cramping or loose stools, and people conclude the product does not agree with them when the real problem was the starting dose. Tolerance generally improves over about a month, and up to three capsules with meals is usually sufficient.
It is recommended particularly for slow oxidizers, and for people who notice gas or bloating after meals, who deal with chronic constipation, or who have had the gall bladder removed.
If GB-3 genuinely does not suit you, the usual alternatives are Enz-aid or betaine HCl with pepsin. It is not generally given to children, who object to the taste.
In the retracing literature, three to six capsules per day is the amount associated with supporting elimination through the liver.
Nutritional balancing programs sometimes produce what Dr. Paul C. Eck and Dr. Lawrence Wilson called retracing, or a healing reaction. It shows up in one of three ways: an old symptom briefly returns, a current one intensifies for a while, or something new appears and then passes.
Three questions help you tell that apart from something that genuinely needs attention. Are you following a properly designed program? Is the rest of your lifestyle sound — sleep, food, rest? And were you feeling better in the period just before it started?
Cadmium is the classic illustration of why this happens at all. Cadmium has a sodium-retaining effect on the body, so as it is eliminated, sodium falls, the oxidation rate slows, and a person can feel more tired than when they began. It is the point at which people most often quit a program — and, in this framework, the point at which continuing matters most.

The mistake I see more than any other with this one is starting at three capsules because the bottle allows it. People cramp, decide GB-3 does not agree with them, and stop. Start at one a day. Give it a month. Almost everyone who does that ends up tolerating it fine, and the people who genuinely cannot are usually better served by Enz-aid anyway.
I came to hair analysis in 2010, under ARNP Julie Walker in Kennewick, Washington, and worked directly with Analytical Research Labs — testing family and friends until I could read a chart properly. I listened to every cassette tape Dr. Paul Eck recorded and read every newsletter that laboratory published. When I found out a degree in Nutritional Balancing existed, I signed up with Dr. Larry Wilson in August 2011, and I have practised independently since the autumn of 2017. The most useful thing I can offer is not a longer product list — it is help reading your own chart and adjusting between tests. Mineral patterns almost always shift on a retest, and watching that happen chart to chart is where the real learning is. I hand-select the formulas and the absorbable forms that consistently help people feel and function better.
How I am available to you. If you order a hair analysis, you get text support from me while you are on the program — retracing and detox questions are best answered as they happen, not weeks later. It takes about three months to train someone to understand what is going on and adjust their own program between tests, and that is the goal. Our Facebook group is free to join whether or not you have bought anything: ask questions there and read through the tips already shared.
I also work in order of priorities, to fit your budget. Some people go all out for longevity; others take only what their hair analysis calls for, once a day. Both are worth doing. Tell me where you are and we will start there.
Matched to your chart. Endo-met formulas are designed to be selected from Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis results rather than chosen from symptoms, because the same product can suit one oxidation pattern well and another poorly. If you are unsure whether this one fits you, a hair analysis answers that from your own numbers.
GB-3 includes essential enzymes like ox bile and pancreatin, which assist in breaking down fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. Ox bile aids in fat digestion and supports liver function, while pancreatin provides enzymes like amylase, protease, and lipase, which enhance overall nutrient absorption and ease digestive discomfort.
Assess your digestive symptoms first, such as bloating, constipation, or discomfort. Consult a healthcare provider for personalized advice, and consider tools like hair analysis to check for nutrient imbalances that may require enzyme support.
GB-3 enhances bile production, which helps stimulate digestion and relieve constipation. Ingredients like black radish and pancreatin help cleanse the intestines and address gut imbalances, which can benefit those with IBS, candida, or bacterial overgrowth.
Digestive enzymes break down food particles that would otherwise contribute to bacterial overgrowth in the intestines. By enhancing nutrient absorption, they help maintain a balanced gut environment, preventing dysbiosis and supporting a healthy microbiome.
Bile acids are essential for breaking down fats, aiding in nutrient absorption, and supporting liver detoxification. They also have a mild laxative effect, which can relieve constipation and reduce bloating, making them beneficial for digestive wellness.
GB-3 is formulated without common allergens, including dairy, gluten, soy, wheat, and yeast, ensuring a safe choice for individuals with dietary restrictions.

“Have ordered this wonderful enzyme after 2 years. Just got it today after few weeks - delayed due to local postal strike. Opened the bottle was quite surprised to see a completely different looking pill. It is dark reddish brown pill compared to a little bigger and greyish one. Do not know what caused it. Hope Eileen replies with explanation. Will update results.”

Response from Eileen Durfee: Hello, after 30 years the tableting company sold and no longer provides services. So another FDA approved facility started tableting the Endomet brand supplements. The shape and color and label have changed. The FDA now requires that instead of saying dessicated ox bile, cholic acid must be listed. The ingredients are the same, only the shape and color of GB-3 have changed. You can eest assured in the high quality and effectiveness of Endo-met GB-3. Thanks for asking! Blessings and Health, Eileen Durfee
