When Oxidation Rate Swings Between Tests

Movement, not a state

A pattern you cannot see on a single report

This one is defined entirely by change across tests. One report cannot show it, however carefully it is read.

  • Fast to slow and back
  • Needs 3 tests
  • A gentle variant

The criteria

The rocker occurs when the mineral balance shifts back and forth between fast and slow oxidation.

Back and forth — which is why a single report cannot show it and two reports can only suggest it. A move from fast to slow is a change of rate. A move from fast to slow and back again is a rocker, and seeing that takes a third test.

Most patterns are read off one page. This one is a property of the sequence, which makes it invisible to anyone testing once.

How it is read

The workbook's reading of this pattern is short and notably positive: it is described as an excellent indicator of deep healing.

That is worth sitting with, because a rate that will not settle looks like instability. Read as a rocker, the movement itself is the signal — the mineral pattern shifting rather than staying fixed.

It also argues against a habit worth naming: judging each report against the previous one alone. A rate that moves back is not necessarily undoing a rate that moved forward.

The gentle rocker

A variant is named separately. A gentle rocker is the same back-and-forth shift accompanied by a Three Lows or Four Lows pattern, and a mild bowl pattern is often present as well.

So the distinction is not about the size of the swing — it is about what the swing is happening on top of. The same movement across depleted macrominerals is given its own name, which suggests the two are not read the same way.

Why this pattern argues for testing more than once

Every pattern in the system benefits from a second test. This one requires a third, and that makes it the clearest argument in the set for treating hair analysis as a series rather than an event.

Related patterns share the property. Compensated readings can conceal movement underneath them, and a poor eliminator reading is often only resolved by watching what a later report does. A single page is a snapshot of two to three months of growth; the pattern is what the sequence shows.

What this is, and is not

A hair tissue mineral analysis is a screening test for nutritional and toxic-element patterns. It does not diagnose, it does not establish a cause, and it does not measure what is circulating in blood today. Where the laboratory literature describes a trend, that trend belongs to the mineral pattern rather than to any person reading about it. Anything medical belongs with your own licensed provider.

What I look for first — Eileen Durfee

This is the pattern I point to when somebody asks why one test is not enough. It is not a sales answer — it is that a rocker is structurally invisible on a single page. You cannot infer it, however good the report is.

And it changed how I read a rate that goes backwards. Before, a slow rate returning after a fast one read as a setback. Read as part of a sequence it often is not one.

Questions people ask

What is a rocker pattern?

A mineral balance that shifts back and forth between fast and slow oxidation across successive tests.

How many tests does it take to see one?

At least three. Two reports show a change of rate; showing that the rate moved and came back needs a third.

How is the pattern read?

It is described as an excellent indicator of deep healing — the movement itself is the signal rather than the instability it might resemble.

What is a gentle rocker?

The same back-and-forth shift accompanied by a three lows or four lows pattern, often with a mild bowl present.
