Inositol is a necessary component of all cellular membranes.* It is a member of the B-Vitamin family that contributes to muscular and nerve function, and participates in the metabolism of fats in the liver.* Myo-Inositol is the most abundant form of this nutrient, with its highest concentrations being found in the brain and central nervous system.*
Myo-Inositol in particular is a versatile nutrient for the promotion of emotional and mental wellness, healthy eating patterns, and restful sleep through its critical role in neurotransmitter messaging systems.* In addition, it is an important nutritional element for the maintenance of ovarian health and normal blood sugar maintenance, especially in women.*

An important nutritional element for the maintenance of ovarian health, especially in women.*
Myo-inositol participates in the metabolism of fats in the liver and supports normal blood sugar maintenance.*
Inositol takes part in the signaling pathway that thyroid cells use to respond to thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), which is why myo-inositol is studied for its role in supporting healthy thyroid function.* In published research it is frequently studied alongside selenium.* Myo-inositol is also studied for its role in insulin sensitivity and carbohydrate metabolism, and for its part in the neurotransmitter systems involved in mood.*
Working on thyroid or metabolic health? Ask your healthcare practitioner what fits your situation, and let testing guide the program rather than guesswork. We stock Endo-met Selenium and other thyroid and metabolism support, and a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) provides the mineral-pattern information practitioners use when building an individualized program.

For mood and behavior support, take 1–2 level teaspoons twice daily; for the support of female hormonal balance, take 1 level teaspoon twice daily or take as directed by your healthcare practitioner.*
Tip: some sources suggest taking myo-inositol apart from coffee or other caffeinated drinks, since caffeine may reduce how much is absorbed.
We are reporting published research — we are not prescribing. The studies below were designed and carried out by independent researchers, using their own study formulas and doses. They are not studies of this product, and nothing on this page is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment plan. Only your physician or endocrinologist can decide what belongs in your care, and thyroid medication, testing and dosing stay with them.
Nordio and Basciani, writing in the International Journal of Endocrinology (2017), enrolled 86 patients who had Hashimoto’s thyroiditis with TSH between 3 and 6 mIU/L, elevated thyroid peroxidase (TPOAb) and/or antithyroglobulin (TgAb) antibodies, and normal free T3 and free T4. Participants took tablets providing 600 mg of myo-inositol plus 83 mcg of selenium as L-selenomethionine, once daily for six months, with water about two hours before or after a meal.
The authors report that after six months, TSH, TPOAb and TgAb levels were significantly decreased, free T3 and free T4 increased, and participants’ quality-of-life scores improved. The researchers concluded that the combination restored euthyroidism in the patients studied.*

Reviews of this literature explain the rationale: the pathway thyroid cells use to respond to thyroid-stimulating hormone depends on inositol as a second messenger, so researchers have asked whether supplying myo-inositol changes how those cells respond.* Selenium is studied alongside it because of its own role in thyroid enzyme activity.

One serving is 2 level teaspoons, approximately 6 grams, providing 6,000 mg of myo-inositol. The 1 lb (454 g) jar contains about 76 servings. At one serving a day that is roughly two and a half months; at the label’s twice-daily use it is about five weeks.
Follow the label: 1–2 level teaspoons twice daily for mood and behavior support, or 1 level teaspoon twice daily for the support of female hormonal balance — or take as directed by your healthcare practitioner.* The powder has no other ingredients, so it mixes into the beverage of your choice.
The product does not contain wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish or tree nut ingredients, and it is Non-GMO, vegetarian/vegan and Kosher. It is produced in a GMP facility that processes other ingredients containing these allergens.
