Foam Rollers - Neck

Spinal Exercise with Foam Rollers

Foam rolls are common home fitness tools that promote myofascial release, and can reduce tension, tightness, and pain.

Our patented foam rolls have a different purpose and effect, because they promote proper curvature of the spine; which reduces tension, tightness and pain.  Other foam rolls crunch the spinous and lack design features to remold the spinal column.  Our rolls act like a spinal support brace, which have a specialized groove to guide the lumbar and cervical vertebrae.  The groove supports the transverse process while simultaneously letting the spinous float.   The weight of the body in the supine (lying position) over strategically positioned rolls, relieves tight muscles, so the vertebrae can shift and settle into a healthier position and curvature.  Picture a locomotive (train) moving down the train track, being guided in the correct direction.  Shape is key because you can never change the muscle bone attachment points, and tight muscles mean the vertebrae are in the wrong position.  For the first time, our spinal fitness foam rolls provide the passive guidance you need to remold the shape of the spine.

The Neck Shaper rolls come in five (5) different diameters and three (3) different densities.  Neck rolls are seven (7) inches long.

Why Shape is Important

The spine is a mechanical device meant to function in gravity with the least amount of muscle expenditure and joint strain. Unfortunately, individuals with back pain lack proper posture and core body strength. It takes huge amounts of energy to hold the human body erect because of gravity. Having forward head posture or the trunk of the body too far forward over the hips can increase muscle effort by hundreds to thousands of pounds.

Muscles tighten to keep the trunk of the body from hitting the ground, which becomes painful over time. The S-shape in the human spine provides up to a 15:1 mechanical advantage. Due to this, multiple muscles can be at rest instead of tightening to hold the body erect.

Unfortunately, the importance of the S-shape curvature has not been recognized by healthcare professionals, educators, or strength and conditioning professional to its fullest extent. Consequently, not everyone develops their spinal column into the ideal S-shape. Without the most efficient spinal shape required for locomotion and mobility, a variety of symptoms begin to appear, and current treatment lacks the necessary protocols to develop and restore proper curvature.

Why the Neck Shaper Rolls Work

The back-twist exercise allows the center of the spinal discs to assume their fluid state. In this state, the spine is best able to be properly “molded” with the use of the neck and back shaper rolls (spinal brace supports). When the disc centers settle into their gelled state, after 20 minutes of non-motion while lying over the rolls, the spinal muscles relax, and the entire body is prepared for restful, productive sleep.

For acute injuries, or just comfortable relaxation, and to promote healing and maintain correct posture, use the neck, and back shaper spinal support rolls.  The rolls may be used one time or several times a day, but they should be used at least a minimum of 20 minutes per session, usually after a game, workout or before sleeping.

The pain and symptoms associated with the misalignment of spinal vertebrae can often be controlled in most cases with proper application of specific neck shaper spinal rolls. As stated the rolls come in 5 different diameters and 3 different densities. Generally, use a soft smaller diameter roll to promote healing and restoration, and in a healthy spine use a firmer and larger diameter roll as curvature improves.

Proper spinal curves increase the leverage and mechanical advantage of the spine up to 15 times more, than a spine without proper curvature moving in gravity. Loss of curvature greatly increases the possibility of spinal injury due to the loss of strength in the affected area. Restoration and maintenance of normal spinal curves is essential if vertebrae are to remain in normal alignment.

Please consult your physician prior to using the neck shaper spinal support rolls.
